First off, we do now have a fire permit! The permit allows us to have small fires from noon until midnight. Please be sure to put them out with a hose at the end of the night, or if you are leaving it unattended. Let the S’mores begin!
The weekend was nice and sunny, a welcome sight after a week of rain and showers. Yesterday (Monday) was also a really nice day, but the next couple days look a little soggy.
This has made for some really nice colors around the area though. The grass has turned very green, and the leaves have just about finished coming out. The only trees that haven’t finished coming out are the Oak trees. They are always the last to drop the leaves and last to pop out in the Spring. The river has also really turned green, even though the water level seems to have dropped again. I am thinking they must be holding back Merrymeeting lake upstream, and trying to keep Winnipesaukee a little more full after the dry Spring.
In the picture above you can see one of the beavers heading across the river to the beaver house. I also saw what we thought was either a Cardinal or an Oriole. It was hard to tell as it was a female, so the colors were not super bright.
We have gotten our first load of bark mulch, and hope to get it spread once the rain stops. Things are looking pretty nice around here. Lyndi has been loving being outside, and her new favorite thing seems to be the swings. See you all soon!
